Asking for your vote
To earn the honor of a person’s vote, one must first spend time learning about their hopes and concerns and then collaborating with them on ideas to lift up our community. Michael-Ray Jeffreys has spent the past few months reaching out to voters in Lunenburg, on-on-one on their porches or over the phone, working to create a community that works for everyone.
We have seen these conversations with Michael-Ray become the basis of his platform and the reason I am asking for your vote. We should all agree that protecting our senior citizens is critical to our way of life and we must find a way to help them stay in town. Expansion of renewable energy will benefit us all. Supporting our local farmers is crucial to maintaining our rural town feel.
When we work hard, and we work together, the possibilities to growing our economy and maintaining our quality of life are endless.
On Election Day we will be voting for Michael-Ray Jeffreys to be our new Selectman for now and the future of Lunenburg. Please join us.

Endorsing Michael-Ray Jeffreys
I am writing to endorse Michael-Ray Jeffreys for the open Board of Selectmen seat. I don’t take voting or endorsing a candidate lightly. I have spoken to all the candidates personally and observed them in their official Town positions. I do not believe in bullet voting nor do I believe people should be endorsed on name recognition.
Michael-Ray has my vote because I truly believe he is the best candidate for the present, and future citizens of the town. He is able to negotiate, debate, and compromise. Abilities I think a Select Person should have. He hears all sides of an issue and responds to all resident concerns. Not just the opinions he agrees with. He researches and does his due diligence. He also, when needed, can make proper decisions when time is limited. Finally he as demonstrated he is willing to go the extra mile to make himself available to any and all residents, young and old. For theses reasons he has my vote. I would hope he has yours as well.

For Michael-Ray Jeffreys
I would like to express my support for Michael-Ray Jeffreys in his run for the Lunenburg Board of Selectmen. In the time that I have known Michael-Ray he has shown that he has the ability to work with others in a respectful and professional manner. He has also demonstrated open mindedness and is willing to hear all sides of an argument before forming an opinion. These are the traits that I find most import in an elected official. To best represent the town of Lunenburg as a whole, we need a candidate that puts people above their own personal agenda. I feel that Michael-Ray is the person for that job.
Please join me in supporting Michael-Ray Jeffreys on May 19th

For Michael-Ray Jeffreys
I have been fortunate to know Michael-Ray for over 25 years- since the age of 7 or 8 and feel that I know him in a way that many are not fortunate enough to. He has a drive that burns deeper than most and used it to start his own business as well as to serve the community of Lunenburg on the Planning Board.
Michael-Ray has always been extremely personable and always had a diverse group of friends made up of various races, socioeconomic classes, religions, and life experiences. Despite the level of diversity- everyone was treated as though he truly cared about them and valued them as a person. His door was always open and he would welcome anyone in, letting a down-on-his-luck friend stay at his home for several weeks until he could get back on his feet. Even strangers are quick to feel they are in the company of a friend after speaking with him a short while. That type of dedication and willingness to help is certainly not the norm in this “me, me, me” society we find ourselves in.
His devotion extends beyond his large circle of friends. In fact, I would say it starts with his Service to this country. Michael-Ray could have easily sat back and rested on the laurels of his father, MSG William E. Jeffreys, a decorated Vietnam War hero and recipient of a Bronze Star Medal for Valor, an Army Commendation Medal for valor and a Purple Heart Medal- he didn’t do that though. He rose his own hand and joined the service. In the Army Reserves, he served as a Military Police Officer and later in the medical corps both as a Non-Commissioned Officer and officer. As a military leader he lead young Soldiers overseas in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
There are people who would have you believe that military Service is irrelevant or overrated these days. But I would argue the opposite. These days the level of divisiveness is toxic. What we need are more people who were willing to defend America and other Americans regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, or political affiliation. We need more Americans in public office who have excelled in some of the Army’s challenging leadership schools. As a combat Veteran of the wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan, I know the caliber of men and women the Army produces. The experience gained in Service, especially in a high-stakes operational environment where one must be able to improvise, adapt, and overcome, cannot be replicated anywhere else on earth. Michael-Ray is one of those Americans. He’s proven this in the way he treats both friends and strangers, in the way he runs his business, and in the way he has served the town of Lunenburg in the past and present.
A vote for Michael-Ray Jeffreys is a vote for fairness, equality, hard work, and determination. Remember that when you go to the polls.

For Michael-Ray Jeffreys
I am writing on behalf of Michael- Rays Jeffreys in his candidacy for Selectmen. I have worked with Michael in town government and find him to be a person who listens and hears. He considers all sides of an issue and then takes a stand based on the research he has done. He is thoughtful and has the ability to filter out political noise to get to the underlying issue.
As a taxpayer, he understands the impact decisions we make at town meeting and at the ballot box can affect what we have to pay to our mortgage company or directly to the town. He particularly is aware of the impact this may have on those on a fixed income. Yet he also knows that there is a time to invest in our infrastructure to avoid higher costs in the future.
As a graduate of Lunenburg High School, he understands how the town communicates and that there is a continuing need for ways to get out information to the residents in a way that is useful and timely. Through his service in the military he understands how Lunenburg fits into the world outside of town, and how events beyond our borders can affect our lives.
His active participation on the planning board shows that he does his homework before each meeting and is prepared to ask questions of people who come before the board. He is also able to think on his feet and fully discuss items for which no advance information was available. This is a vital skill for a selectman.
Michael sees the path ahead. He identifies that tasks to make progress to the ultimate goal. And he has the ability to track progress to assure success.
Please vote Michael-Ray Jeffreys on Saturday, May 19th.

For Michael-Ray Jeffreys
As a Senior Citizen and 40 year resident of Lunenburg, I’d like to go on record for endorsing Michael-Ray Jeffreys for Selectman. And, I encourage you to support him as well. Beyond a doubt, Mr. Jeffreys is the most qualified candidate for the job.
Michael-Ray Jeffreys has the most experience of any candidate needed to fill the seat vacated by Mrs. Paula Bertram. He is an active member of both the Planning Board and the Charter Review Committee. He has repeatedly represented the needs of the citizens. He gives thoughtful opinions, all while listening to the concerns of the people. It is his experience and active involvement that has brought me to this conclusion – experience counts.
I don’t want anyone to think that I give my endorsement lightly. I listen, watch the meetings and gather information carefully to make sure that those who represent me have my best interest at heart. The fact that Mr. Jeffreys considers the impact of his decisions and how it effects residents, makes me more convinced that he is our candidate. Seniors should pay attention to his opinions. He has our best interest at heart and it shows.
My late husband Jack and I worked hard to enhance the lake, and Lunenburg at large. Jack was very involved in local politics and considered himself a “keeper of the lake”. We both knew, and still know, that what effects one person, effects a hundred people. Selectmen decisions effect us all. Although, we are lake residents, it doesn’t mean that we don’t care about what happens in the whole town. We should all have pride in where we live, and who represents us.
Michael-Ray would make us proud, and give us all a voice in the community.
I most admire Michael-Ray Jeffreys for his honesty, fairness and thoughtfulness. Michael-Ray has those qualities, and then some. His eagerness to listen and to come up with new ideas has strengthened my interest and support. Senior citizens are not forgotten in his plan.
Join me in voting for Michael-Ray Jeffreys for Lunenburg Selectman.
He is the obvious choice.

Lunenburg Ledger
For Michael-Ray Jeffreys
Over the past couple of years, Lunenburg’s population has been among
the fastest growing in the state. Accordingly, so has its Senior (over 60)
age group. There are nearly 2,500 Seniors in town, roughly one-third of
our registered voters; a greater number than our citizens under twenty.
However, with annual rising taxes and cost of living, many of our elders
on fixed incomes find it increasingly difficult to remain in their homes, or
locate in Senior Housing in town. Instead of spending their golden years
in the place where they have given so much for so long, they are forced
to leave Lunenburg behind.
Michael-Ray Jeffreys is a powerful advocate for Seniors. A presence
at the Eagle House, he will strive for increased affordable housing and tax
relief options. His web page (http://www.michaeljeffreys.com) details his
vision of achieving assistance. This is not an easy fix. But to a voting
demographic too often overlooked, it is encouraging to know we will have
a strong supporting voice in local politics.
After all, the path to Senior Citizenship is a path all voters are traveling.

Michael-Ray Jeffreys for Selectman
I am not politically savvy but I care about the town I live
in so when there are going to be elections I pay closer attention
and learn what I can about the candidates who are running.
I stopped in to the Dragonfly Café Saturday morning to talk
with Michael-Ray Jeffreys. Michael is a Lunenburg resident and
one of the candidates for Selectman in the Town of Lunenburg.
I am only one of the many senior citizens that make up and live
in the town but I liked hearing Michael’s ideas and thoughts for
the use of some of the spaces in the town center. When he mentioned
affordable senior housing and possible tax breaks for senior
residents he really got my attention!
Michael spoke with everyone in the room and in listening to his
replies to each individual it was clear to me that Michael is the
man for the job. He genuinely cares about the future of my town
and has his finger on its pulse.
Michael is a grounded candidate with sensible ideas that will benefit
the citizens young and old. What captured me the most was Michael
carefully listened before he shared his positive thoughts.
I will vote for Michael on election day because I feel he not only
has the education and knowledge for the job but he also has the
common sense and caring heart needed to help continue to steer
the Town of Lunenburg bus in a positive direction!
Very sincerely,
Linda Betti

To All Lunenburg Voters
I am writing to respectfully ask that you vote for Michael-Ray Jeffreys for Selectman on May 19. Filling the gap left by Paula Bertram, who has decided to not seek re-election after 12 honorable years of service to Lunenburg as a member of the Board, will be a difficult task indeed. But, as one who has served beside Paula for the past four years, I believe Michael-Ray Jeffreys has the right stuff to step into this important role.
One thing I have learned as a member of the Lunenburg Board of Selectmen is that BOS members need to be good listeners. One has to see all sides and respect all points of view when serving on the Board. Lunenburg is made up of folks with a wide variety of opinions, and BOS members need to listen to all, before casting their vote on matters of import. I have had the opportunity to watch Michael-Ray in action on the Planning Board, as well as on the Charter Review Committee, and have observed him listening, discussing, and being open to new ideas.
I have recently had the opportunity to discuss a wide variety of topics of concern to the citizens of Lunenburg with Michael, and have been impressed, most of all, by his ability to listen and consider a variety of points of view, as well as by his energy, ability to articulate his thinking, and pragmatic approach.
During these discussions I have learned that Michael is fiscally conservative; he would like to see fewer Debt Exclusions, and more initiatives tackled within the confines of the Town budget. He is keenly aware that many of the Town’s senior citizens, living on fixed incomes, cannot absorb the tax increases foisted upon them in recent years. He is investigating ways that the tax burden on seniors (who meet certain income thresholds) might be reduced; both concepts I support.
Michael realizes that the population of Lunenburg is growing more rapidly than the population of the state as a whole, and would like to pursue a path toward more proportionate residential growth, maintaining the rural character of our Town.
He loves the conservation lands and local trails of Lunenburg, and would like to help the Town take steps to increase trail maintenance and mapping, so that the beautiful woods and fields that Town folk have opened up their wallets and hearts to purchase, may become more accessible to them.
Please join me in voting for Michael-Ray Jeffreys for Selectman on May 19. His presence on the Board will enhance our membership by adding another voice eager to serve the citizens of Lunenburg, working in concert with the current Board members to move Lunenburg forward.
